Colorado Craft Beef
Colorado Craft Beef’s story starts over a century ago in the eastern plains of Colorado. In 1909, the Enlarged Homestead Act doubled the allotted acreage a homesteader could settle and in 1917 the great, great grandfather of our founder, Kara Smith, took it upon himself to move west and break ground on a ranch for him and his family, determined to wrench a life out of the semi-arid grasslands. His determination set the stage for what would become our family ranching business, Double Slash N Ranch.
Now, Kara has taken the lead, moving the family ranching business towards a model that allows for selling directly to our customers all across the United States while also focusing on the blending of environmental sustainability and traditional stewardship of the land.
Grilla Grills
True story: About 7 years ago, two men on a fishing trip, chowin’ down at camp on a plate of ribs. One looks over at the grill (he’s the industrial designer) and says, “Why do all those pellet grills look the same, big ole barrel cut in half.” The other, a metal smith by trade, answers, “Because we haven’t built one.” That’s when the light bulb went off. Why not design and build a smoker-grill that stands apart, literally, from the crowd. Cooking with pellets was hardly known. Hundreds of design hours later, the Grilla pellet smoker grill was born.

Origin is America’s next big brand. We make everything from dirt to shirt right here in our Maine-based factories. Workwear, Streetwear, and Fightwear are the core of our business, and we are the first brand to manufacture footwear in Franklin County Maine in the last 30 years. We pride ourselves in making heirloom quality, durable goods from the woods of Maine to North Carolina.
Origin was first launched in 2011. In 2013, our founder, Pete Roberts, with the help of friends and family cleared a forest and built a timber-frame factory, with the sole purpose to make the world’s BEST Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gear. Since then, we have grown, now headquartered in the heart of downtown Farmington and expanding our product offerings to include apparel, denim jeans, outerwear, footwear, and JOCKO FUEL nutritional supplements.

We do this by working closely with our cow calf producer partners to craft an animal that is best suited for our environment and program. Focusing on genetic selection, targeted nutrition, health & well-being, and low stress handling through all phases of life to craft a beef product that starts and ends with the consumer in mind.
We work with producers and processors through the entire life cycle (this can range from 17-24 months of age) to allow these ruminants to naturally convert grasslands and products that aren’t viable human resources into a high quality delicious protein source to provide nutrition for you and your family.
All finishing ingredients are locally sourced from farmers or partners in the grain or food processing industry. The only exception is the grass, which is from our ranch and our local cow calf partners’ ranches.
